Bert Mitchell, age 78, of Royal, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020.
She was born on March 11, 1942 in Rosboro, the daughter of Denzil Evenda Capps and Bertha Beatrice Sorelle Capps. On August 1, 1961, she was married to Robert “Bobby” Mitchell, Sr. who preceded her in death on January 18, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings, Ray Capps, James Capps, Donald Capps and Donna Mount.
Bert was a faithful member of Southwest Missionary Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and volunteered with Friends of the Garland County Library for twenty-five years. She also volunteered at CHI St. Vincent for many years. She was from a very close family who loved having a good time together. She was also known to dote on her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert, Jr. and Giuliana Mitchell of Royal and Rusty and Joy Mitchell of Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Lilly Fisher, Charlie Capps, Mary McKinnon, Jean Mustard, Louise Lowe, Sue Loy and Wilburn Capps; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon, at Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.
Social distancing directives will be in place with no more than 100 persons at any one time in the funeral home chapel, avoidance of physical contact and all attendees 10 years of age or older must be wearing a face covering at all times when inside the funeral home.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, in the Ebenezer Cemetery near Kirby with Bro. J. D. Hooper officiating.
Pallbearers will be Robert Mitchell, Rusty Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, Joshua Mitchell, Terry Funderburk and John Whitley.
