Billie Jean Young

Billie Jean Young, age 84, of Daisy, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015. She was born on September 24, 1930, in Harper Springs, the daughter Elige O'Neal and Dona Alford O'Neal. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Darrell Young, Sr.; two sons, Eldon Kuykendall and James Darrell Young, Jr.; three grandchildren, Billy Glyn Kuykendall, Jr., Cody Hoover and April Kuykendall; one great-grandson, Colton Kuykendall; one brother, Buster O'Neal; and three sisters, Bertha Turner, Opal Efird and Irene Anderson. She was a member of both the Order of the Eastern Star, Glenwood Chapter, #396 and the First Baptist Church of Dierks. For several years she worked as a cook for the Lux Caf in Glenwood and at Gayle's Family Restaurant in Daisy. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, canning, gardening and raising her guineas and chickens. She dearly loved her family and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Retha and Bob Bogan of Murfreesboro, Billy Glen Kuykendall, Sr. of Dierks and Janet and Heath Watts of Delight; six grandchildren, Robin Bogan, Christy Davis, and her husband, Scott, Heather Cornwell and her husband, Shane, Heath Kuykendall and his wife, Kayla, Eric Kuykendall and Aspen Watts; fifteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of wonderful friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 3, 2015, in the Mount Joy Cemetery in Daisy with Bro. David Blase officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Billy Glen Kuykendall, Sr., Bob Bogan, Scott Davis, Donnie Willis, Robin Bogan and Gary Efird. Honorary pallbearers will be her special caregivers, who include her great-niece, Jackie Wilson, her great-nephew, Donnie Willis, Niki Null and the nurses and staff of the Dierks Health and Rehab.
