Daniel Medrano

Daniel Medrano, age 65, of Lowell, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021.

He was born on February 25, 1956, in McAllen, Texas, the son of Pedro M. Ruiz and Petra Lopez. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Manuela.

As a small child, Daniel moved to Culver, Indiana with his family. He was a 1975 graduate of Culver Community High School and later received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Indiana in Bloomington. In 1990, he was employed by the United States Postal Inspection Service. He retired as a postal inspector in 2013, after twenty-two years of service. Daniel enjoyed visiting family and helping them by fixing things that needed repaired. He volunteered as a shooting sports instructor and a junior leader sponsor for the Pike County, Indiana 4-H. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and tennis and woodworking. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughter, Selena Medrano; his companion, Janell Golden; ten siblings, Juan, Esteban, Olga, Nina Cross, Ramiro, Pete, Delia Lopez, Eloid, Roy, and Eva Ruiz; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 19, 2021, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Eli Nesar and John Treloggen officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Langley Hall Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Esteban Ruiz, Pedro Ruiz Jr., Elias Lopez, Richard Mikos and Tracy Deaton.
