Grace Elaine McDermont

Grace Elaine McDermont, age 76, of Hot Springs, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

She was born on August 24, 1945, in Onia, Arkansas, the daughter of Herby Branscum and Clara Branscum. On August 10, 1962, she married the love of her life, Arthur R. McDermont. She is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ray McDermont; three sisters, Genetta Gammill, Nelbie Richardson and Martha Mealer; and four brothers, Sterlin Branscum, Landon Branscum, Gid Branscum and Glen Branscum.

Grace was a Christian in her faith and a faithful member of Oaklawn Missionary Baptist Church for twenty-five years. She retired from J.C. Penny’s after fifteen years of service. She was loved by many but her biggest love was her family. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Arthur R. McDermont of Hot Springs; one son, Arthur Quentin McDermont of Hot Springs; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Mark Ross of Benton; two grandchildren and spouses, Blake and Carlie Ross of Benton and Alex and Dylan Robbins of Hot Springs; four great-grandchildren, Grayson Ross, Madalyn Ross, Laiken Ross and Jaxton Robbins; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Jerry Branscum of Hazen and Herby Branscum, Jr. and Billie Jo of Perryville; one sister, Ruth Ratchford of Marshall; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 20, 2021, with Bro. Jeff Hill officiating in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.

Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Niagle Ratchford, Michael Ratchford, Mark Gammill, Mark Ross, Kenneth Gaines and Allen Echols.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in Grace’s name to: Oaklawn Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund or Arkansas Hospice.
