Howard D. "Boogie" Shirley

Howard D. "Boogie" Shirley, age 71, of Glenwood, died Tuesday, October 14, 2014. He was born on April 5, 1943, at Amity, the son of David Mancel Shirley and Isabel Wanzer Shirley. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Paul Shirley, Harold Shirley, Gene Shirley, Willis "Hoppy" Shirley and Jerry Shirley; and two sisters-in-law, Betsy Shirley and Vernell Shirley. Boogie was a Christian in his faith, a logger and a welder. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He adored his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife, Sue Shirley of Glenwood; three sons and one daughter-in-law, David Shirley of Bismarck, Kevin and Shawna Shirley of Glenwood and Robert Yeager of Ames, Iowa; four grandchildren, Candace Shirley, Sasha Shirley, Seaton Yeager and Sarah Yeager; one brother and three sisters-in-law, Donald and Sally Shirley, Barbara Shirley and Sue Shirley, all of Amity; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Anna and Neal Burton of Point Cedar, Maudie and Lee Outlaw of Benton and Linda Francis of Amity; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Visitation will be Friday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
