James Dean Perkins

November 15, 1957 — September 17, 2021

James Dean Perkins, age 63, of Pencil Bluff, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021.

He was born on November 15, 1957, in Longview, Washington, the son of James Dallas Perkins and Vera Maye Bennett Perkins. He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew “Tyler” Perkins; and his parents.

James Dean owned and operated the Corner Express in Pencil Bluff for several years, where he loved to spend time with his coffee buddies discussing current events, as well as pretty much anything else that would come up. He loved to work and travel, never wanting to sit down and do nothing, and was always thinking about his next big and best made plans. While he enjoyed socializing and visiting with pretty much everyone, his greatest joy was playing with his grandchildren. James Dean will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James Cole and Tabitha Perkins and Jerrod and Renee Perkins, all of Pencil Bluff; two daughters, Carmen Mullins of Huffman, Texas and Debbie Caviness of Hillsboro, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; one brother, Jeffrey Perkins of San Francisco, California; two sisters, Patti Perkins and Tammy Strother, both of Pitkin, Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.

Honorary pallbearers will be his lifelong friends, Chase Gray, Jared Henry and Perry Sing.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Glenwood.

Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
