James Dewitt Homan

James Dewitt Homan, age 84, of Kirby, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2020.

He was born on November 21, 1935, in Greenville, Mississippi, the son of Clinton T. Homan and Minnie Maebell Tucker Homan. On July 1, 1985, he was married to the love of his life, Merrie Sue Pierce. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Homan; his grandson, Lee Homan; and his parents.

He was Baptist in his faith and enjoyed fishing, scrapping, working in his yard, and he loved growing a garden, especially growing his tomatoes. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Merrie Homan of Kirby; his children and their spouses, Bobby and Mekesha Homan of Greenville, Mississippi, Joseph and Evelyn Homan of Tennessee, James Homan, Jr. of Greenville, Mississippi, Michael Allen and DeLisa Homan of Duluth, Minnesota, Thomas and Sandra Pierce of Hopper, Tim and Wanda Pierce of Watonga, Oklahoma, Natosha (Jonathan West) Homan of Kirby and Michael Wayne and Casey Homan of Alpine; thirty grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Pearlie Westmoreland of Mississippi; his brother-in-law, Harold Pierce of Kirby; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM, Friday, August 28, 2020, in the Lodi Cemetery with Bro. Glen Harris and Bro. David Kassos officiating.

Visitation will be held Friday, 2:00 PM until 2:30 PM, prior to the services at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Josh Brewer, Austin Johnson, Dawson Singleton, Rodney Hudgins, Jonathan Pounds and Mark Laster.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bro. Sammy Cottrell, Trinity Holiness Church, Amity United Methodist Church and Donald E. Smith.
