John C. "Bud" Williams

November 25, 1934 — November 15, 2015

John C. "Bud" Williams, age 80, of Glenwood, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015. He was born on November 25, 1934 in Palestine, Arkansas, the son of Omar Williams, Sr. and Lula Lee Williams. On December 17, 1956, he was married to Catherine Whisenhunt. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Lynn Williams; his parents; four brothers, Cecil Williams, James H. Williams, Jack Williams and Donald Williams; and his sister, Leona Williams. A United States Army veteran, he was stationed in Germany. In 1969, he moved to Glenwood and worked numerous places and even owned his own business. He retired from Shields Lumber Company and began farming and hay bailing. He was a Christian man who enjoyed driving around, checking on his cows and visiting the round table for coffee at the OK Caf. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Williams; two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Dee Williams and Mike and Donna Williams, all of Glenwood; four grandchildren and their spouses, Kristina and Steven Scott of Glenwood, Eden and Hunter Rhodes of Elkins, Arkansas, Keri Lindsey of Booneville and John and Angel Lindsey of Russellville; five greatgrandchildren, Addison Scott, Emma Scott, Oakley Rhodes, Braden Lindsey and James Lindsey; two brothers, Omar Williams, Jr. of Caldwell, Arkansas and Jerry Williams of Fayetteville; two sisters, Lela Harper of Rudy, Arkansas and Dorothy Walker of Dexter, Missouri; and a host of other family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 18, 2015, in the Mount Tabor Cemetery with Bro. Tommy McDaniel officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be James Dean Cox, Ronnie Knighten, Hunter Rhodes, John Lindsey, Steven Scott, Bruce McNully, Grant Pope and Sonny Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice, Guy Ward, Carol Ronnie Newcomb and Jerry Don Vaught. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
