Lelah May Glenn Rankin

March 26, 1945 — September 13, 2021

Lelah May Glenn Rankin, age 76, of Murfreesboro, went to be with her Lord on Monday, September 13, 2021.

She was born on March 26, 1945, in Bentonville, the daughter of Carl Glenn, Sr. and Delores Filbeck Glenn. On February 3, 1967, she was married to the love of her life, Gerald Dean Rankin, who preceded her in death on July 27, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Michelle Lee Sorrells; her parents; and two brothers, Harold Lee Headrick and Lester Walter “Bobo” Glenn.

In her younger years, she attended the First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro and later became a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. She always loved going to church, but when she became unable to get out and attend services she would watch Adrian Rogers every Sunday morning, something that gave her great happiness and joy. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, listening to gospel music, and watching her favorite television shows, Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons and the Wheel of Fortune. Lelah loved her family dearly and her greatest joy in life was when she was spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. Lelah will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Isaac “Ike” Rankin; her daughter and son-in-law, Ramona and Darrell Sorrells, all of Murfreesboro; three grandchildren, Isaac Daniel Rankin, Harold Lee Rankin and Jacob Matthew Sorrells; her brother and sister-in-law, Carl, Jr. and Donna Kay Glenn of Texarkana, Arkansas; her best friend, Georgia Tolleson of Nashville; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 20, 2021, in the Murfreesboro First Baptist Church with Harold Lee Rankin and Bro. Scott Vaughn officiating.

Visitation will be held Sunday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood.

Interment will be in the Roy Cemetery, near Nashville.

Pallbearers will be Billy Jackson, Joe Ledbetter, Isaac Daniel Rankin, Jacob Matthew Sorrells, Charlie Morrow, Darrell Sorrells, Steve Hill, Harold Glenn and Jamie Hawthorn.

Honorary pallbearers will be Johnce Parrish, Charles Jones, Rob Evans, and the nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice.
