Mary Eljean "Jean" Brown Sandlin

Mary Eljean Brown "Jean" Sandlin, age 88, of Little Rock, passed away October 20, 2013, at Kaiser Hospital in San Diego, California. Jean was born on September 19, 1925, in Story, to Weaver Green Brown and Cora Lee Qualls Brown. Jean was married for 30 years to the late Harry Lee Sandlin of Mount Ida. She had four children: Marilyn Sandlin Deutschman and Brenda Eiler Sandlin of San Diego, California and was preceded in death by two children: Doyce Wayne Stewart and Linda Kathryn Sandlin of San Diego, California. She is also survived by a sister, Audean Brown Faucett and her husband, Burman, of San Diego, California; and a brother, WG Brown and his wife, Vera, of England. Her beloved 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her precious sister, Virginia Brown Kimes and her husband, Ezra. She loved and cherished Ivy Chapel Christian Church in Little Rock, where she was a long-time, active member. Jean was a 30 year member of Beta Sigma Pho Sorority, where she was past President. She also loved assisting with church functions, Festival of Trees at CARTI, visiting nursing homes and enjoying life and family. Jean was also a retired real estate agent, wife, mother, aunt, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend. Memorial services will be held at Ivy Chapel Christian Church in Little Rock on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 4:00 PM. Memorial burial will be held at Reed Cemetery in Story, on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 4:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Reed Cemetery, c/o Harrison Reed at 380 Friendship Road, Story, Arkansas, 71970 or to Johnny Smith at 125 Smith Creek Road, Story, Arkansas, 71970.
