Patricia J. Summitt, age 68, of Norman, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. She was born on March 4, 1946 at Norman, the daughter of Ben Carter and Lillian Fay Short Carter. On March 15, 1969, she married Edward "Peewee" Summitt. She was preceded in death by her parents. Patricia was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Montgomery County Nursing Home for over 18 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed reading, "Find-A-Word" puzzles and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Edward "Peewee" Summitt of Norman, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Benny Parker of Norman and Doyce and Cindy Summitt of Hot Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and David Qualls of Norman and Gracie and Tony Moore of Glenwood; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Billy Carter of Nashville; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Allie and Artis Lee Graves of Caddo Gap, Effie and Joseph Romero of Taos, New Mexico, Mary Lou Denton of Fayetteville and Tammy and Ross Moore of Texarkana; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 8, 2014 in the Barber Cemetery near Sims with Bro. Brian Hill officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Mike Graves, Gary Graves, Micah Graves, Gene Graves, Tony Moore and Glen Pearson. Honorary pallbearer will be Matthew Graves. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
