Alamae Sue Allen, born March 23, 1930, near Lonoke, Arkansas, to Charles and PollyAnn “Annie” Bird Flynt, peacefully completed her life on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at the age of 95 after a lifetime filled with faith, commitment, love and adventure. The youngest of seven children, Sue grew up on the family farm surrounded by all the normal farm animals, but made the chicks her pets—an experience she later joked was responsible for her lifelong dislike of eating chicken.
In her late teens, Sue left home to work in the “big city” of Little Rock. During the 1950s she ventured across the country, living in Texas, Florida, and California, where one of her sisters resided, before eventually returning to Miami and later settling in Hollywood, Florida. During this time, she sang and appeared in commercials, embracing every opportunity with her adventurous spirit.
The Bible truths she learned in her youth ultimately drew her back to her Arkansas roots. Returning to the Lonoke area, she worked at a drive-in restaurant owned by her brother and reconnected with a former schoolmate, John Allen. The two married in 1961. Sue resumed her study of the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized in 1962—marking the beginning of a lifelong spiritual ministry.
Determined to share what she learned from the Scriptures, Sue dedicated herself to teaching others about God, the hope for the future, and the promises regarding life and the Earth. This dedication lasted to the very end of her life. She and John moved to Little Rock and were members of the Broadway congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses before land was purchased to build a Kingdom Hall off 12th street on Nix road. They traveled throughout rural Arkansas and surrounding states to support congregations in their preaching work as well as assist in the construction of many Kingdom Halls. This commitment to her ministry and spiritual service continued throughout her life.
Sue will be remembered for her youthful spirit, her sparkling wit, and the mischievous twinkle in her eye when she was being playful. She had a ready sense of humor and a fondness for life’s simple pleasures—a cold Coke, strawberry ice cream, or a candy bar often taking precedence over any proper meal. Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Allen; her parents, Charles and PollyAnn “Annie” Flynt; and all six of her siblings. She is survived by her son, Michael Allen, his wife Judy, and their two children. She also leaves behind her honorary granddaughter, Carmen Walker, who held a special place in her heart.
