Allen F. Malcom

Allen F. Malcom, (Plug) age 83, of Gurdon, went home to the Lord January 23, 2026. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family. He was born in Arkadelphia on October 4, 1942 to Doyle and Corine Malcom.

Allen was an avid hunter and fisher all his life. He loved to listen to his dogs running deer in the bottoms and catching (and eating) catfish at the river.

Allen drove a log truck most of his life. He also worked for Ouachita Marine Boat Company. He proudly served as mayor of Whelen Springs for 12 years.

Allen was known as a kind, generous, and funny person. He was outgoing and made connections and chatted with new friends everywhere he went. He loved music by Johnny Cash and his favorite song was If I Can Dream by Elvis Presley.

Allen will be remembered for his calm, steady presence. For instilling a love of the outdoors to others. For teaching others how work on their own cars and how to hunt and fish. He will be remembered for his love for his family. For his legendary stories and silly songs he composed. Some of his greatest hits were “I don’t know but I’ve been told,” and “Last time I seen her I ain’t seen her since…”

Allen is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Karen Malcom. His children, Tammy (Jaime) Myers, Tracey (Wayne) Warren, Brandon (Becky) Malcom, Shea (Atalo) León, and Traci (Tommy) Labeff, brothers Dwight Malcom and Doyle Wayne Malcom, sisters Alice Dickerson, Peggy Keeling, Judy Daniel, and Donna Kelley. He was a very well loved Papa to 21 grandchildren and a multitude of great grandchildren. He left behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is having a joyful reunion with several loved ones who preceded him in death: his parents, aunts and uncles, daughters Kelli Beene and Terri Bordelon and many, many treasured friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 29th, at the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home, where everyone will be invited to come celebrate The Man, The Myth, The Legend.
