Alma "Dean" Allen quietly passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017, surrounded by her children. Dean was born June 13, 1931 in Olar, South Carolina to the late Melvin and Willidene Hogan. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Hogan.
Dean was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all she knew. She is survived by five children, Molly Lunt, Melanie Gring (Clayton), John Allen (Rhonda), Melvin Allen and Tracy Allen; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mom loved to sit on the front porch drinking coffee, tea, and sipping blackberry wine with her friends at The Cottages. She enjoyed antiquing, baking and listening to Willie Nelson and Rod Stewart. Mom proudly displayed her loyalty to the Green Bay Packers and the Arkansas Razorbacks by driving around town in a red SUV, sporting a Green Bay Packer flag. Mom embraced life fully and will be missed by everyone she touched and will be forever in their hearts.
We wish to thank her doctors for their excellent care, Dr. Shane Kimball, Dr. David Jones, Dr. Jennifer Co and Dr. Balagopalan Nair, and the nurses and caregivers at Hospice Home Care.
At Mom's request, there will be no service. The family asks that donations be made in Mom's memory to CARTI, 8901 Carti Way, Little Rock, AR 72205.
