Alton Tolleson

Alton Tolleson, age 75, of Kirby, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014. He was born on November 10, 1938, in Kirby, the son of Roy Martin Tolleson and Annie Lee Gurnsey Tolleson. On August 18, 1963, he was married to Marie Louise McClane. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister-in-law, Bernice Tolleson. He was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, served in the U.S. Air National Guard and worked in road construction. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Alton was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother and his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved with all his heart. He is survived by his wife, Louise Tolleson of Kirby; two sons, Richard Tolleson of Hot Springs and Rex Tolleson of Kirby; three grandsons, Anthony Tolleson, Joe Tolleson and J R Tolleson; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Sonny Tolleson and Joyce and Joyce Tolleson, all of Kirby; one sister and brother-in-law, Maurice and Bobby Golden of Kirby; several nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 14, 2014, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Jack Herring and Billy Golden officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, prior to the services. Interment will be in the Hopper Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be James Wright, Anthony Tolleson, Joe Tolleson, J R Tolleson, Mike Golden, Randy Golden and Lynn Tolleson.
