Amira Azmy Iskander - September 15, 1945 – July 21, 2026

    Amira Azmy Iskander, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, missionary, and faithful servant of Jesus Christ, passed peacefully into the presence of her Savior on July 21, 2026, at the age of 80.

Amira was born on September 15, 1945, in El Menya, Egypt, to Afifa and Anis Hanna. As the eldest of four children, she grew up in a Christian home where her love for God was nurtured from an early age. Living as a Christian in a predominantly Muslim country brought many challenges and seasons of persecution, yet her faith never faltered. Through perseverance, unwavering trust in God, and a life devoted to prayer, she became a powerful testimony to God's faithfulness.

From a young age, it was evident that the Lord had a special calling on Amira's life. She married Dr. Azmy Iskander, and together they immigrated to the United States to build a life centered on Christ and His Kingdom. Their marriage was marked by deep love, unshakable partnership, and a shared passion for serving others. Although they endured heartbreaking trials—including the loss of two beloved sons, Sherif in 1966 and Amir in 1999—their faith remained steadfast, and they continued to trust God's purposes through both joy and sorrow.

    Amira was, above all else, a woman of prayer. Those who knew her often described her as a true prayer warrior. While Dr. Azmy cared for the physical needs of countless patients, Amira faithfully ministered to their spiritual needs, praying with individuals, encouraging the discouraged, sharing the hope of the Gospel, and pointing countless people to Jesus Christ.

    She devoted herself to studying God's Word and faithfully taught Bible studies and women's ministries wherever God opened a door. She courageously prayed with believers in underground churches, encouraged persecuted Christians, discipled women in their faith, and joyfully shared the Gospel across cultures and languages. Her greatest desire was that others would come to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

    Together, Amira and Azmy founded Iskander Evangelistic Association, a nonprofit medical missions organization that faithfully served around the world for more than forty years. Their ministry took them across Africa, the Middle East, the Philippines, and many other nations, where they provided medical care, planted churches, trained pastors and Christian leaders, established clinics, strengthened local ministries, and brought the love of Christ to communities in need. Behind every mission trip was Amira's quiet strength, compassionate heart, and steadfast commitment to God's calling.

    To her family, Amira was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished grandmother. Together with Azmy, she built a home firmly rooted in Christ and, over the course of their 60-year marriage, established a strong spiritual foundation that shaped generations of their family. Side by side, they modeled faith, sacrificial love, hospitality, generosity, and perseverance. Her life was a living testimony that true greatness is found in faithfully serving Christ and serving others.

    Amira leaves behind a legacy that reaches far beyond her family. Her prayers, her faithful witness, and her love for the Lord have impacted countless lives around the world. The seeds of faith she planted will continue to bear fruit for generations to come, and her legacy of love, prayer, and faithful service will never be forgotten. Though she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices, knowing that she has heard the words she longed for all her life: "Well done, good and faithful servant." (Matthew 25:23)

    She is survived by her siblings, Amgad and Iman; her daughters, Faith and Emily; her sons-in-law, Tom and Michael; and her seven grandchildren, Rachel, Joshua, Victoria, David, Tayte, Alexander, and Derrick.

    A visitation will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock on Monday, August 3, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. A burial service will take place at 12:00 p.m at Pinecrest Memorial Park
