Andrew Joseph “Drew” Busken, beloved son, brother and friend to many worldwide, passed away on June 25, 2024, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 36. Born on January 15, 1988, in North Little Rock, AR, he was the cherished son of Gerard and Tammy Busken and the loving brother of Kelsey (Busken) Khan.
Andrew spent his early years growing up in North Little Rock and Maumelle, AR playing baseball, basketball and football. He attended junior high in Augusta, GA and began high school in Bixby, OK and graduated from Springdale High School in NW Arkansas. He went on to attend the University of Arkansas for several years and graduated from Arkansas Tech with a business degree in logistics. While attending college, he worked at the Springdale UPS distribution center.
After graduation, Andrew joined the UPS Logistics Team in Fort Worth Texas where he worked for several years before advancing his career with an opportunity at the GM Financial Headquarters as a logistics analyst.
Andrew’s passion for cars and racing was evident throughout his life. As a boy and young man, he frequently attended NASCAR and Formula 1 races with family and friends. He served on the Board of Directors for the North Texas Karters where he raced Karts on the weekends. His passion led him to serve as a dedicated volunteer race marshal for prestigious organizations such as Formula 1, MotoGP, and many others, embodying his love for motorsports.
In addition to his love for racing, Andrew was an ardent music enthusiast embracing all types of music genres. He was an accomplished acoustic and electric guitar player, and explored playing various other instruments such as the banjo, organ and drums.
Andrew’s adventurous spirit led him to explore 18 countries across five (5) continents, fulfilling his love for travel and appreciation for diverse cultures. Through his travels and association with Formula 1 events, he developed meaningful friendships across the globe.
He had a deep affection for animals, reflecting his compassionate nature. Above all, Andrew lived a life rich with experiences and touched the hearts of everyone he met. His infectious energy and zest for life were an inspiration to all who knew him. In honor of his cherished rescue companion, Lili, Andrew’s family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT.org) in lieu of flowers.
Andrew Joseph Busken’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Andrew is survived and deeply missed by his parents, Gerard and Tammy Busken, his sister Kelsey (Corey) Khan, grandpa Lewis Crow, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Andrew now reunites with his beloved grandma’s Marilyn Crow, Charlene Busken, and grandpa George Busken.
A service to celebrate Andrew’s life will be held on July 20, 2024, at 2:00pm with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00pm at the Smith Funeral Home located at 8801 Knoedl Ct, Litte Rock, Ar. Following the service, a reception will be held at Dugan’s Pub located in downtown Little Rock at 401 E. 3rd St.
