Andrew Norman

Andrew (Andy) Tally Norman, Higden, Arkansas

On March 23, 2024, heaven gained another wonderful man when Andrew went to be with his Heavenly Father.  He was the son of John Wesley Norman and Lula Sappington Norman.

He was born May 20, 1933, in Fiteshue, Arkansas (Woodruff County).  At an early age his family moved to Antioch/Floyd area where he spent most of his years growing up.  He joined the US Navy 1952 and served his country well.  He was a Submarine Veteran.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Ruby (Clark) Norman after 71 years of marriage.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his seven siblings.

Andy married his childhood sweetheart Ruby Clark Norman and they raised a wonderful family.  They had 2 sons, Ronny Norman (Pennie) of Beebe, Arkansas; Donny Norman (Barbara) of Morrilton, Arkansas; two daughters Dr. Lou Ann Norman of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Sandra Norman of Searcy, Arkansas and 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Andy attended Harding University majoring in Work Management.  He retired from James H Matthews after 33 years as Supervisor.  He always had a project going.  His family has many treasured things he made for them from his workshop, tables, bookshelves, jar openers and many other items.  His family always said Dad (Pop) could make anything and repair anything.  This was true of Andy; he was very talented.  Andy enjoyed hunting and fishing until his health failed him.  After he retired, he and his wife moved to the Greers Ferry Lake area in 1996 so they could enjoy the beautiful lake, where they spent many happy hours in their retirement years and traveling Arkansas and surrounding states.

Andy had belonged to hunting clubs in Star City and in Mt. Holly, Arkansas.  While in this hunting club he invented an automatic full rack to lift deer onto his 4-wheeler and made several and sold them.

He was a joy to be with…always having something funny to say entertaining his family. Andy was a member of Greers Ferry Assembly of God Church.  He was an active member until his health failed him.  He donated lumber to build the Sound System/Power Point and put in many hours working on this project.

He will be missed by all.  His desire for his family is to meet him in heaven someday.   He will be waiting at Heavens Eastern Gate to see everyone.  His last words to his family – “make heaven your home… so the circle won’t be broken.”
