A proud graduate of Mount St. Mary Academy in 1965, she approached her life with a spirit that was fearless and firmly held onto her beliefs throughout her years.
Anita loved her family deeply. She was known for her strong will, often described as stubborn and loyal. She had a zest for life that was evident in her love for activities such as fishing with her husband, Jim, as well as playing pool, dancing, and going bowling. She found joy in dining at Panda Garden surrounded by family.
Anita is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Jim Castleberry, and her children: James Castleberry (Meredith), Brian Castleberry (Meg), Theresa Webre (Luke), Chris Castleberry (Tracy), Lance Gipson (Pam), Bob Gipson (Darla), Nick Castleberry, Tina Walden (Mark), Bryan Gipson (Sarah), and Theresa Nix (David). She was also the cherished grandmother “Gma”, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to many. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Carmen Long, and her brother, Pat Nahlen, along with a host of family and friends who held a special place in her heart.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, William and Otillia Nahlen; her daughter, Bridgette Burkhart; her son, Kenny Gipson; and her siblings, Michael Nahlen and Joan Nahlen. Their memories live on in all who knew and loved Anita, and she will be deeply missed.
A visitation to honor Anita's life will be held on June 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home (1921 Main Street). The family invites all who were touched by Anita's life to join them in celebrating her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arkansas Food Bank. The family would like to give a special thank you to the many caregivers Anita had at Arkansas Hospice.
