Anita Lois Long, age 85, of Mountain Pine, died Thursday, February 01, 2024.

She was born on April 20, 1938, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, the daughter of Frank Walton Cate and Mary Adaline Kemp Cate. On September 28, 1984, she married Ernie Long. She was preceded in death by Ernie and her parents, three (3) brothers and five (5) sisters:  Frank Donald Cate, Lola Mae Long, Velma Marie Powell, Claudia Siddell, Marcus Alan Cate, Norman Cate, Minnie Doris Swisher Wood, Norma Joyce Truelove, as well as two (2) previous husbands, Gerald Jones and Thomas Stanton Thomson, Sr.

Anita was Baptist in her faith, but most important to her, she was known as a Christian.  She was a teller and manager of the bookkeeping department at Arkansas Bank & Trust/Regions for 32 years. Ernie and Anita gardened together and sold their produce at the Farmers Market several days a week in the 7 North area. He was a self-employed painter and Anita joined him after she retired from banking. They painted houses in Hot Springs Village and the surrounding area.   Anita loved spending time with her family and traveling with them during the summers. 

She is survived by a two (2) daughters and one (1) son, daughter Becky and Steve Linder, son Keith Thomson, and daughter,  Anita Michelle Thomson, all of Hot Springs; four step children, Thomas Stanton Thomson, Jr., Christopher Steven Thomson, Lori Picard, and Bryan Long, four (4) grandchildren, Aaron Linder, Lacie Fowler, Billy Marsh, and Dakota Thomson; five step grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; fifteen step great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 09, 2024, with a visitation from 1:00-2:00 PM, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs with Bro. John Swisher officiating.

She will be laid to rest at Memorial Gardens.
