Anna Mae Nichols, age 84, of Royal, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023.

 

She was born on November 5, 1938, in Harrison, the daughter of Ross Farmer and Mildred Hudson Farmer.  She was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings, Gary Farmer, Burnett Farmer, Betty Godwin and Glendale Cogburn; one daughter-in-law, Linda “Twiggy” Godwin; and a grandchild, Carlis Loy, III.

 

Anna was a Christian and a member of New Home Missionary Baptist Church.  She loved keeping her hands busy with crocheting, quilting, sewing and working in her vegetable garden.  Anna was very outgoing, making friends with everyone.  She worked as a CNA for five years but mostly she worked taking care of her family that she loved so dearly.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend that will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

 

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Leonard Nichols; four children, Larry (Pam) Wheeler, Diann (Russell) Estell, Shannon Godwin and Mark Godwin; two grandchildren, Shan and Amber; four great-grandchildren, Christopher, Nathaniel, Payton and Silas; two step-children, Sally (Joe) Pfeffer and Cindy Nichols; two sisters, Sharon Brown and Georgia (Jim) Wright; her best friend, Pat Powell; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends. 

 

Funeral service will be 11:00AM, Friday, August 18, 2023, with Bro. Brian Sheridan officiating in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.  Visitation will be 10:00AM-11:00AM, prior to the service.

Pallbearers are Shan Godwin, Roy Winningham, Johnny Wood, Stacy Hamilton, James Cogburn and Shane Hamilton.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Airport Road Kroger Pharmacy, Dr. William Cole and staff, Hospice Home Care, Debra Sorrells, RN, Robert Garner, RN, CNA’s, Jennifer and Audrey, for the excellent care giving to Anna.
