Annallee Hobgood Pennington, age 96 of Arkadelphia died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005 in the Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia after a short illness. She was born Oct 9, 1909 in Bisbee, AZ the daughter of Norman and Annallee Hobgood. As a free spirited young lady, she rode her horse five miles each way to attend and graduate from Arkadelphia High School before entering Ouachita Baptist University. Her 70-year marriage to Arthur M. Pennington began on April 17, 1927. She was the original multi-tasker as mother, pianist, artist, homemaker, grocery store owner, farmer, rancher, gardener, seamstress, secretary and chef extraordinaire. Her ministry: listening to, loving and feeding countless friends and family was a natural extension of her spiritual inheritance. Most importantly she was a 43-year mentor to her countless Alanon friends. Her potluck offerings were legendary. She was a member of the Third Street Baptist Church. Annallee was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Norma Jean Pennington, a granddaughter, Paula Ann Wilde and a sister, Thelma Mc Kenzie.
Survivors include two daughters, Camille Penny Montgomery of Moran, TX and Patti Leman and her husband, Dr. Robert Leman of Mt. Pleasant, SC; four grandchildren, Connie Kuehl and husband, Russell of Belton, TX, Melody Giammalva and her husband, Chuck of Ft Worth, TX, Brian and Heather Leman both of Mt. Pleasant, SC; five great-grandchildren, Shawn Bowman Chad Bowman, Courtney, Carly and Cameron Giammalva .
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005 in Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel with Rev. Jim Pennington and Rev. Jim Foster officiating. Interment will be in Pinecrest Cemetery in Alexander, AR. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Don Dillard, Mickey Smith, Chuck Giammalva, Brian and Dr. Robert Leman , Russell Kuehl, and great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Freeman, Paul Shepherd, Max Brooks, Joe Walker and Donnie Bettis.
