Arlos Oliver, age 77, of Glenwood, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 24, 2012. He was born on August 19, 1935, at Parks, the son of Floyd Oliver and Ethel Cantrell Oliver. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Alice Marie Bardwell and Joyce Taylor. Arlos was a retired veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve, having served four years in the U.S. Navy. He is also a retiree of Arkansas Power and Light (Entergy), where he worked for over 25 years. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, and for more than twelve years he taught a Bible study class at the Fish Nest in Glenwood. Arlos will be remembered for his serving spirit and willingness to help others in every way. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Oliver of Glenwood; his son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Hollie Oliver of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Grace Oliver and Jonathan David Oliver; and one sister, June Taylor of Bryant. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 27, 2012, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Dale Hamilton and Bro. James Owens officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment with military honors will be in the Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Johnny Jester, Gary Holmes, Mike Malone, Herman Norris, James Bardwell and Mike Pierce, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the Fish Nest class.
