Arnold Doyce "Rooster" Cogburn

Arnold Doyce “Rooster” Cogburn, age 80 of Glenwood, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Dorothy Cogburn. They shared 51 wonderful years together.

Born on November 16th, 1943 in Amity, Arkansas, Rooster was the son of Huey and Edress Cogburn. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Leatrice “Lea” Cogburn Grant, and his parents. Rooster is survived by the love of his life, Dorothy Cogburn of Glenwood, his brother Edwin “Sonny” and Judy Cogburn of Benton, his sisters; Quinn and Jackie Johnson of Amity, and Gail and Cliff Wood of Amity, his sisters-in-law; Trish and Tom Lynn of Black Springs and Sue and Bill Ray of Mount Ida, his brother-in-law Buster and Melinda Morris of Black Springs, his three sons; Micheal Doyce Cogburn of Hot Springs, Damon and Lori Cogburn of Benton, and Jarrod and Summer Cogburn of Hot Springs, his six grandchildren; Reanon and David Milotte of Malvern, Cameron Cogburn of Benton, Lyndsey Cogburn of Bauxite, Nathan Cogburn of Dennard, Rachel Cogburn of Glenwood, Alyia Cogburn of Russelville, and his great-granddaughter; Rosalie Murry of Bauxite.

Rooster was a member of Abundant Faith Ministries where he served as an elder for sixteen years. He retired with AT&T after 26 years. Rooster held many jobs after his retirement, but his favorite job of all was raising three of his grandchildren, Lyndsey, Nathan, and Rachel alongside his wife Dorothy. He loved them unconditionally, and in return they adored him. After his first retirement, he and his wife became missionaries in Mexico. They made four mission trips, traveling to five different countries before they settled in Glenwood in 2005. Rooster had the best sense of humor, and was known for his funny jokes. He loved reading, spending time with his family, working in the yard, and going to church to serve God. His uplifting attitude and positive energy brought a light into every room that he entered. Rooster will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to know him.
