Astrida Ilze (Busch) Allred, 83, of North Little Rock, passed into bliss January 8 at 10:25a.m. She is survived by her daughter Linda Diana (Allred) Strickland also of North Little Rock and by beloved friends considered extended family.
She was a Latvian born immigrant to the United States in 1948. She and her mother left Latvia about 1943 on foot as Russians infiltrated the country. Their journey finalized in Germany where they worked in a military work camp before being granted immigration status to this country.
Astrida dearly loved her adopted country. Her hardship graced her with tolerance, gentleness and the ability to embrace all who knew her. She loved her art, reading, plants and animals. She accepted life's challenges calmly and without complaint. The same as she accepted her movement into God's light.
Those wishing to honor her life can make a donation to the Pulaski County Humane Society, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72210. A gathering for tears will not be held, however, a memorial celebration will be held at a future date.
