Ava Dalana Young

Ava Dalana Young, age 72, of Amity, passed away on October 10, 2023.

She was born on April 29, 1951, in Amity, the daughter of Alfred H. Young and Oza Whisenhunt Young.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Carlton Brendon Carroll; and her best friend, Phyllis White.

On May 7, 2017, Ava married Ryan Neighbors. She was Baptist in her faith. She loved all animals, gardening, and music. Ava was best known for her singing; she was so talented that she was offered to be backup singer for the Allmen Brothers. She would sing at many events, one of her fondest was when she would perform at Alpine on the Fourth of July. She was an amazing caregiver and loved like no other. Ava will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Ryan Neighbors of Amity; her son, Larry Michael Carroll of Amity; her daughter, Dalana Michelle Pittman of Benton; her three grandchildren, Tristan, Stacy, and Chelsea; her great-grandson, Matthew; her special friend, Vickie; and many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel.
