Barbara Sue (Collie) Kaufman

Listen to Obituary

One of the sweetest souls to ever walk this Earth, Barbara Sue (Collie) Kaufman, of Little Roc, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 10, 2025, just 24 days before her 90th birthday.

She was born on September 3, 1935, in Hot Spring County, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dan E. Kaufman, her son, Jerome N. Holland, grandson, Reese C. Johnson, parents, Lesson W. and Frances E. Collie, siblings, Jerry and Richard Collie. She is survived by her daughters, Natalie Johnson (Richard), Jocelyn Holland, Nancy Smith (Dave), 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Echols, Marshall Johnson, Anna Carpenter (Gavin), Dr. Rudi Johnson, Warren Smith (Quinlyn), step granddaughter, Natasha Davis (Justin) and their daughters Amelia and Tessa Davis. She is also survived by her sister, JoAnn Southworth.

Barbara was a beautiful, sweet woman, who became a single Mother that unselfishly worked two jobs for many years without ever once complaining. She always put her children's needs first. She gave them Faith, Strength, and Unconditional Love.

She was extremely particular about everything. Apparently she was born that way! Things always had to be cleaned and organized. She was an excellent cook and grew up in the country and was baking for her family by the age of 10. She put a lot of thought and love into everything she did, but she never smoked, drank, or cussed!

Her workplaces included Baptist Bible and Bookstore, Casa Bonita, JCPenny, M. M. Cohn, Dillard's, Arkansas Department of Labor, and the Arkansas Department of Workforce Contribution.

Some of Barbara's favorite sayings were:

"I'm from the country, so I KNOW what good food is", "Everything has it's place, clean as you go, and don't make a mess", "It could always be worse...and there is always something to be grateful for", and "It's not what you do for people when they are gone, it's what you do for them while they are here that matters."

Barbara's favorite Bible Verse was from Romans 8:28:

"All things work together for good to those who love God."

The family would like to thank the staff at Baptist Hospital, Blossoms Midtown Rehab, and especially Hospice Home Care of Little Rock for making her final days comfortable. They also want to thank her close knit apartment complex's neighbors and staff, especially Debby Hester.

A visitation will be held on Friday August 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by an 11:00 AM funeral service at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct, Little Rock, AR, 72205.
