Barbara Lue Tigue Cox

Barbara Lue Tigue Cox, age 72, of Murfreesboro, joined our Lord in heaven on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at her home.

She was born on May 24, 1950, in Amity, the daughter of Frank Tigue and Barbara Watts Tigue.  She was preceded in death by her grandson, Cameron Tate Cox; her former husband, the father of her son, Jamie Cox; her parents; four brothers, James Tigue, Wesley Tigue, Floyd Tigue and Rufus Tigue; and two sisters, Helen Spears and Della Ann Henthorn.  

Barbara was a member of The First Christian Church of Murfreesboro, where she loved teaching the children about her Lord and Savior.  She enjoyed gardening, but her greatest joy in life was spoiling her family and friends, who she dearly loved with all her heart.  Barbara was a true example of what a Christian mother and friend should be.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Barbara is survived by her son, James Jay “JJ” Cox of Pike City and special friend, Aubrey Bailey of Kirby; her granddaughter, Brookelyen Cox of Delight; one brother, Ed Tigue of Amity; her special cousin who was like a sister to her, Susie Pruitt and her husband, Johnny, of Murfreesboro; several very special friends, Sally and Jim McKinnon, Dennis and Shirley Smithson, Pam and Larry McKinnon and Peggy and Ricky Stone; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members; and a host of many other wonderful friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 11, 2023, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Larry McKinnon and Ricky Stone officiating.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Coker Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Henthorn, Joe Tigue, Darrell Tigue, Ted Tigue, H.I. Tigue, Tom Henthorn and Curtis Wootten.

Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Tigue and Paul Tigue.
