Barbara Galbraith

August 29, 1934 — April 18, 2025

Barbara Galbraith

Barbara Galbraith, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025 at the age of 90. Born on August 29, 1934, in Ione, Washington, Barbara was the eldest daughter of Elmer and Dorothy Thompson and was raised in the small town of Metaline Falls alongside her sister, Kay, and brother, Bob.

In 1954, Barbara met Edward Galbraith, and together they built a life rooted in love, commitment, and adventure that spanned nearly seven decades, seven children, and countless memories. Through every move and chapter during Ed’s time in the Air Force, Barbara was the steady heart of their home—resilient, loving, and endlessly patient.

Barbara had a love for sewing, reading, baking, puzzles, and travel—but nothing brought her more joy than time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her cinnamon rolls and Saturday morning pancakes became family traditions, the kind that turn into memories you carry with you for a lifetime.

Her quick wit, infectious enthusiasm, and sharp sense of humor were always part of who she was. Even in her later years, her unexpected comebacks and perfectly timed jokes were just a few of the things that made time with her so memorable.

Barbara was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church, where she and Ed renewed their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary—a milestone they celebrated with a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Australia and New Zealand.

She is survived by her husband Edward; their seven children—Mike Galbraith, Diane Emerson, Denise Galbraith, Mark Galbraith, Dawn (Jim) Peredo, Debbie (Greg) Henley, and Matt (Mandy) Galbraith; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her brother, Bob (Jan).

Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. She taught us the value of family, the joy of a well-told joke, and the beauty of living life with a full heart.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
