There is a phrase in the Old Testament, "The Quiet of the Land." It refers to those alive with a fervid and devoted belief in God, yet pursue their lives in a quiet and unassuming manner.
Barbara Rawls was such a person. She served God and the Christian faith quietly with sincerity, reverence and loyalty. She had great gratitude for God's grace and forgiveness. Barbara left this life on July 29 in much the same manner as she lived it. We cherish her example and honor God for her witness. She will be missed.
Barbara taught children's Sunday School for many years, sang in the church choir and worked in Vacation Bible School. She was active in a group who buys and packages personal care items for use by those who stay in the Salvation Army shelter. And many will miss the floral arrangements she created while working for several florists in Little Rock.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Don, daughter, Melissa, and a host of other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Kevin.
Services will be Thursday, August 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, followed by visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, Salvation Army Personal Care Fund, One Covenant Dr., Little Rock, AR 72211.
Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., (501)224-2200. Barbara's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
