Bell Travis Tunnell, Jr., PhD, 81, of Little Rock, passed away July 12, 2018. Travis was born July 15, 1936 in Little Rock to Bell Travis Tunnell, Sr. and Hazel Henry Tunnell. He graduated from Mabelvale High School, and received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Little Rock University. He received his Master of Arts in Psychology and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Arkansas. Travis taught at UAMS and UALR for many years.
He was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Army National Guard, Little Rock Rotary Club, the River City Men's Chorus and the old River Fishing Club.
Travis devoted his life to helping others. He had a wonderful sense of humor and the best attitude. He could make anyone feel good about themselves. He loved hunting and fishing with his two sons, was a loyal Razorback fan, and he adored spending time with his seven grandchildren.
Travis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anita Marsh Tunnell; his children, Andy Tunnell and wife, Debbie, of Republic, Missouri, Mike Tunnell and wife, Beth, and Kathy Tunnell Hampson and husband, Carson, all of Little Rock; brother, Ron Tunnell and wife, Carla, of Quitman; sister, Lana Holland and husband, Bob, of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren, Andrew Tunnell, Ashlyn Tunnell, Anna Hampson, Lawson Tunnell, Audrey Hampson, Sarah Hampson and Cade Tunnell; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 15 from 4-6 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Services will be Monday, July 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1101 N. Mississippi, Little Rock, AR 72207, Arkansas Arthritis Foundation, 6213 Father Tribou Street, Little Rock, AR 72205 or River City Men's Chorus, 6834 Cantrell Rd., #180, Little Rock, AR 72207.
