Ben Doughty, born on October 14, 1944, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, at the age of 81. His journey through life was marked by devotion to family, an adventurous spirit, and a knack for living with zest, humor, and heart. Ben was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Ruth Doughty, his wife Martha and two sisters Roena and Quila. 

Ben’s greatest pride and lasting legacy are his three sons—Ben, Harley, and Grover—each a reflection of the resilience, determination, and kindness he embodied. Ben’s wife Martha, stood beside him through life’s triumphs and challenges, until her passing. Leaving behind a cherished and strong, steady presence he brought to her life.

Grandchildren Tanner, Madison, Aaron, Collyn, Nova, Lilly, Michael, and Scarlett brought immeasurable joy and deepened Ben’s sense of purpose. He delighted in their laughter and growth, finding in each of them a new reason to savor life’s moments.

Friends and extended family were lights along Ben’s path. His siblings—brothers Joe Doughty and Cragar Doughty and his sisters Karen Trammell (Billy), and Glo Vaught—shared the bonds only family can know.

Ben’s life was shaped early by the enduring love and guidance of his parents, Earl and Ruth Doughty, and the special connection he shared with his late wife Martha. Their memories and influences remained close to his heart throughout his days.

Professionally, Ben was a jack of all trades, embracing a self-employed path in his earlier years. His hands were skilled, his mind always curious, and his ability to adapt served him well in every venture he tackled. Whether tinkering with something new or lending a hand, Ben carried a determination that made him both respected and relied upon.

Outside of work, Ben’s passions gave color and vibrancy to his life. He loved old cars and motorcycles, holding an appreciation for craftsmanship and adventure. Time spent hunting and fishing brought him peace and fulfillment. With a twinkle in his eye, he relished opportunities to harass friends and loved ones playfully, never missing a chance to spark a laugh or lift a mood.

Those who knew Ben will remember his laid-back attitude, his ability to enjoy life, and an intensity that revealed itself in every pursuit. He liked to live on the edge a bit and brought humor and lightness to all occasions. His ease with the world and simple joy in living were gifts to everyone around him.

Ben’s family and friends will gather privately to honor his life, celebrate cherished memories, and offer comfort to one another as they say goodbye. His spirit will live on in the stories told, the laughter shared, and in every memory of a man who truly enjoyed the ride.

Ben Doughty leaves behind a family and a community shaped by his presence, carrying forward his legacy of love, fortitude, and a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed.
