Benjamin E. Burks, age 89, of Pearcy, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023.

 

He was born on May 9, 1933, in Antioch, Arkansas, the son of Fred Eugene Burks and Opal Marie Tankersley Burks.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Aline Burks; his parents; one son-in-law, Mike Ashley; two sisters, Thelma Tucker and Lavern Mann Ragsdale; and four brothers-in-law, Clyde Tucker, Don Mann, Willard Ragsdale and Jay Sanders; and one step grandchild.

 

Ben was a member of Oma Community Church.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and watching the bird and squirrels play.  He loved his family with all his heart and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Tankersley Burks of Pearcy; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Sandra Burks of Hot Springs, Fred and Reymi Burks of Lakewood, California, and Tom Burks of Hot Springs; two stepsons and spouse, Rick Suit of Pearcy and Greg and Christine Suit of Hot Springs; one daughter, Judith Ashley of Malvern; one stepdaughter and spouse, Cindy and Paul Calcagno of Hot Springs; nine grandchildren, Misty and Richard Roach of Hot Springs, Vicky and Wayne Baldwin of Malvern, Sheena Snyder (Tad), Tedi Burks and Tara Burks of Lakewood, California, Craig and Lauren Burks of Virginia, Bobby and Brandi Snyder of Hot Springs, Travis Burks of Lakewood, California and Ben Burks of Hot Springs; one brother and sister-in-law, Royce and Ruth Burks of Hot Springs; one sister, Dorthy Sanders of Hot Springs; fifteen great-grandchildren, Logan and Skyler James of Hot Springs, Ethan, Justin and Elizabeth Lininger of Malvern, Kalayah and Kinsleigh Lunsford of Malvern, Kalie Baldwin of Malvern, Nevaeh Snyder of Hot Springs, Henry Burks of Virginia, Aubree, Hazel, Rose and Lorelei Burks of Lakewood, California; 13 step-grandchildren; 29 step-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, March 3, 2023, with Bro. Randy Kincannon officiating in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs. 

 

Interment in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the funeral home.

 

Pallbearers are his Craig Burks, Bobby Snyder, Wayne Baldwin, Richard Roach, Randall Mann and Aaron Mann.

 

Honorary pallbearers are Oma Community Church, Dean and Evelyn Stafford, Dorthy Sanders, Royce and Ruth Burks, Travis Burks, Ben Burks, Elite Hospice, Selita Rich, RN, Sherry Cobb and Rick Suit.

 

The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Rick Suit for all he did for our Dad.
