Bennett Haynie, 11, of Little Rock passed away Monday, October 22, 2012. He was a student at Dunbar Middle Magnet School and a part of their gifted program, a member of the Quiz Bowl team and orchestra. He loved history, especially World War II, and he was gifted with a dry sense of humor. Bennett was a very loving child and extremely devoted to his sister.
He is survived by his parents, Bart and Carla Haynie; sister, Sarah Ellen Haynie, of Little Rock; grandparents, A.A. Haynie, Jr. of Blanchard, Louisiana, and Pat Haynie, of Shreveport, Louisiana; aunts and uncles, Sharon Harville Sullivan of Coppell, Texas, and David Harville of Bivens, Texas, Courtney Haynie LeBlanc of Shreveport, Caroline M. Haynie of Atlanta, Georgia, Pam and Sam Peters of Little Rock, and Penny and John Hurst of Gastonia, North Carolina. He also leaves behind many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carl "Buck" and Iva Dean Harville, and paternal great-grandparents, Verne and Norma Pugh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pulaski County Humane Society, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72210.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday at Canvas Community United Methodist Church at 1111 W. 7th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
