**Due to inclement weather, the Committal Ceremony with Military Honors for Mr. Bernard Olds has been rescheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 19th, 2015 at Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery at 1501 West Maryland Avenue, North Little Rock, Arkansas.




Bernard M. Olds, 94 of Sherwood, Arkansas, passed away on February 3, 2015, in Sherwood. He was born on December 4, 1920, in Boynton, Oklahoma to Gideon and Lucinda Chenore Olds and was the tenth of 16 children.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Vivian Imbeau (Beau) Olds of Little Rock.
As a member of the Oklahoma National Guard he was Federalized in 1940 and served in WWII, arriving on Omaha Beach in 1944. He was wounded in Belgium and Germany and received 2 purple hearts.

Mr. Olds was a retired rural mail carrier, and was one of Sherwood's founding fathers. He carried petitions to
help form the city, and helped start the Volunteer Fire Department. He was Sherwood's Man of the Year in 2011. He was a member of Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church.
Until recently he delivered Meals on Wheels, made Hospital and Nursing home visits, birthday calls, and did numerous things for friends and neighbors.

Survivors include his daughter Connie Trent of Conway, granddaughter, Mandy Trent of Greenbrier, great granddaughter, Brittany Hardin of Conway and great-great grandson, Bhodi Gotcher of Conway, two sisters, Wanda Nolan of Virginia Elaine Swanson of Michigan and one brother Arliss Olds of Nevada.

A memorial service will be held at Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 14, 2015, with visitation to follow. Burial will be at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church food pantry at 9921 Arkansas Hwy. 107, Sherwood, AR 72120 or the charity of your choice.
