Bernice W. Morris "Gigi", 87 years old, of Amarillo, Texas passed peacefully to see her Heavenly Father on December 20, 2017.
Bernice was born April 8, 1930 to Edgar and Bessie Ward. Bernice was the youngest of eight children. She married William E. Morris on June 2, 1948 at First Baptist Church in Lonoke, Arkansas. They moved from Arkansas to Texas in 1952. In Amarillo, they made their home and raised three children, Lynne, Sandra and Eddie. Bernice was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She spent her life caring for others; she worked as a dental assistant for many years and served in the nursery at Coulter Road Baptist Church for twenty-eight years. She was also a care provider for the elderly in their homes. Often, she was taking care of grandchildren or great grandchildren. Gigi loved quilting and canning, but as it became difficult for her, she loved working word search books. Gigi was an encourager and loved her family
She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, William Morris, and her son, Eddie.
Gigi is survived by her daughter, Lynne Vivens and spouse Mitchell Vivens, and their children Brice and Micah; her daughter Sandra Edwards and her husband Randy Edwards, and their children: Alisha Denton and her husband Sean and their children Mattie, Sawyer and William; Jaymie Roberts and her husband Derrick, and their children Zackary, Kambree and Charlee; Josh Edwards and his wife Candace, and their children Blayke and Breckyn; and Brandon Edwards and his wife Corey and their children Harper, Hadley and Hogan. Bernice is also survived by her sister Loraine Brown and two very special nieces, Judy White and DeAnn Shields-Marley. A special thank you to her caregiver, Gloria, with High Plains Senior Care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children's Ministry at Coulter Road Baptist Church, 4108 S. Coulter St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
A celebration of life will be held at from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2017, at the home of Randy and Sandra Edwards, 3703 Langtry Dr., Amarillo, Texas.
Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Wattensaw Church, Lonoke County, Arkansas with burial in Wattensaw Cemetery. David Bentley will officiate. Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home.
