Bessie May Avery Northcutt, 91, of Little Rock died Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Charlottesville, VA.  She was born in North Little Rock, AR May 13, 1914 to William Rafe and Mazie Emma Heflin Avery.  She was originally from McGehee, but lived many years in both Arkadelphia and Hot Springs.  She was a prolific artist who excelled in a wide range of media, and was best known for her bronze sculptures and floral still lifes.  Her husband Penrod Northcutt preceded her in death.
 
Survivors include: one son, William Northcutt of Charlottesville, VA; one daughter, Penny Northcutt of Macon, GA; one brother, Wiley Avery of McGehee, AR; and three sisters, Wilma Rial-Marlow of McGehee, Eva Pearson of St. Louis, MO, and Patsy Binns of McGehee; and three grandchildren.
 
Funeral Services will be at graveside 10:00 AM Monday, March 27, 2006 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Hwy 8 West, Arkadelphia with The Rev. James Calhoun officiating.  Services are under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home, Arkadelphia, AR.
