Betty Ruth Harkrider

Betty Ruth Burroughs Harkrider, “Nanny”, 85, of Bismarck, Arkansas, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024, at Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehab of Arkadelphia.  She was surrounded by her family when she passed.

She was born May 18, 1938, to Odie and Bernice Burroughs.  

Betty loved to can vegetables from the garden, and she also loved cooking.  She enjoyed having her family together for meals which always included her homemade rolls.  Her biggest pleasure in her life was helping with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.   She was their taxi service.  She took care of them when they were sick, and she always made them feel special.  She was always involved with all basketball, soccer and t-ball games and any activities that her children and grandchildren were involved with.   She was always their loudest cheerleader.  She was known for sewing beautiful quilts, which she shared with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claud Harkrider.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Beverly (Gary) Woodall of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Karen (Ricky) Herrin of Bismarck, Sandra (Terry) Roberts of Arkadelphia and Robert Harkrider of Bismarck; her eight grandchildren: Jill (Shawn) Reynolds, Stephanie (Mike) Inglis, Erica (Cameron) Wyatt, Jamie (Ben) Caple, Clay Woodall, Kristan (Daniel) Bolding, Adam Roberts and Reed (Heather) Roberts; her great grandchildren: Hunter Francis, Bentley Caple, Corbin Inglis, Faelynn Boothe, Lainey and Ellie Wyatt, Clint Bolding and Sabrina, Dirk and Dylan Woodall; her four brothers: Odis (Lorene) Burroughs, JC (Esta) Burroughs, Harold Burroughs and Larry (Rhonda) Burroughs and her brother-in-law, Gerald Harkrider, who was instrumental in checking on her daily after the passing of her late husband, Claud. 

A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Ruggles Wilcox Chapel in Arkadelphia.

Betty’s funeral service will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Mike Inglis officiating. 

Interment will follow at DeRoche Cemetery in Bismarck.

Her sons-in-law and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to DeRoche Cemetery Fund, 939 Highway 128, Bismarck, Arkansas 71929.

The family would like to thank each team member that took care of Mom during her time there.   To all of Hall one team, we appreciate the special time you each gave her at Twin Rivers.
