Betty Lou Sweeden, age 83, of Kirby, died Thursday, May 16, 2013. She was born on August 4, 1929, at Daisy, the daughter of Charlie Yeargan and Stella Parker Yeargan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Sweeden; her parents; and her sister, Faye Epperson. She was retired from the Shelby Glove Factory after forty-one years. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and working in her flower garden. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Sweeden of Kirby; her daughter, Marlene Sweeden of Kirby; her sister, Gean Seals of Athens; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 18, 2013, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Bobby Golden officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Glen Sweeden, Bill Epperson, Bob Epperson, Ben Epperson, Brady Epperson and Tim Simmons.
