Betty Laverne Nelson

Betty Laverne Nelson, 74, of Paron, Arkansas, passed away on July 21, 2026.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at North Fork Church, 16745 12th Street, Paron, Arkansas 72122.

Betty was born on February 9, 1952, in Benton, Arkansas, to the late Faith and Joseph Richmond. She proudly served for many years as a jailer with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office and enjoyed helping with the Paron Volunteer Fire Department alongside her husband, Damon. Betty was an amazing and loving mother, not only to her own children but also to those she welcomed and took under her wing. She enjoyed working in her yard, collecting rocks, woodworking, and painting.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Damon Nelson; her daughter, Chandice; her parents; and four siblings, Lexie McCutchen, Curtis Richmond, Rubin Richmond, and Ray Richmond.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cassie Nelson and Kerry Nelson; two grandsons, Jeffrey Nelson and Arin Allen; one great-grandson, Ayden Nelson; two sisters, Linda Hutchinson and Phyllis Parsons; and a host of family and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her greatly.
