Betty Wilks
Betty Jo Wilks age 80, of the Joan Community near Arkadelphia, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011. She was born April 14, 1930 in the Joan Community, the daughter of the late Melvin and Florence Posey Thompson. Betty worked at Oberman's and Levi Straus in Arkadelphia for over thirty years, and worked at Riverwood Nursing Home after retirement. She attended House of Prayer in Spring Hill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hurshel M. Wilks on November 13, 2009 and two brothers, Floyd and Bobby Thompson.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Golden and husband, Roy of Conway, AR; three grandchildren, Babette Nielsen and husband, Steven of Cape Coral, FL., Brigitte Golden and Brandon Golden both of Conway, AR; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Braeden Golden both of Conway, AR; four brothers, Frank Thompson and Donnie Thompson both of Joan, Larry Thompson of Gum Springs, and Bill Thompson of West Palm Beach, FL.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, November 11th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home with E. B. Green officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1:00 PM Friday until service time. Memorials may be made to East Clark County Fire Department or to Arkansas Hospice.
