Betty Dempsey Word, 79, of North Little Rock passed away Monday, November 24, 2008. She was a retired real estate agent and lifetime member of the Million Dollar Club. She was a former school teacher with the North Little Rock School District, a member of Park Hill Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, Girls Auxiliary Leader, an organist and in the hand bell choir.
She is survived by her son, Steve Dempsey, of North Little Rock and his wife Linda; five grandchildren, Lauren Dempsey, Cary Lynn Dempsey, Aaron Dempsey and Koty Ruth, all of North Little Rock and Eli Ruth, of Alma; and one great-granddaughter, Jaydyn Dempsey, of North Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Earl ?Buck? Dempsey; and daughter, Cynthia Rogers Dempsey.
Memorials may be made to Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 East ?C? Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday at Park Hill Baptist Church with a committal service at Rest Hills Memorial Park following the burial of her husband Bill Word at Edgewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. till service time at the church. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St. 758-1170.
