Bettye Jean Henderson

Listen to Obituary

Bettye Jean Henderson, age 88, of Bryant, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in Benton,

surrounded by family, on October 18, 2025. She was born on August 5, 1937, in Glenwood,

Arkansas, to the late Barney and Opal Malcom.

Bettye was born and raised in Glenwood, where she built a life rooted in kindness, hard work, and care for others.

She worked as a beautician and truly loved her clients—many of whom became lifelong friends. Her gentle spirit, warm smile,

and caring heart touched everyone who sat in her chair. She also served on the Glenwood City

Council. Later in life, Bettye moved to Bryant to be closer to her great-grandchildren, who

brought her so much joy. Family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment

spent with them. She was a devoted member of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church in Little Rock, where her faith

was a guiding light in her life. She especially enjoyed the fellowship of her Sunday school class

and the lasting friendships she made there.

In addition to her parents, Bettye was also preceded in death by her brothers, Billy Malcom and

Barney “Junior” Malcom and her beloved husband, Norman Henderson.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Dixie Montgomery, and husband Lance; her

granddaughters Allison Decker (Andrew) and Haley Dale (Harrison); and six great-

grandchildren, Raileigh Decker, Emerson Decker, Jack Decker, Hadley Dale, Drew Decker, and

Hallie Kate Dale. Bettye’s life was a beautiful example of love, patience, and devotion to family.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m., Monday, October 27, 2025, at Smith Family Funeral Home in
