Beverly Jane Mercer, 63 of 
Alexander, Arkansas passed
away on Wednesday, July 26,
2023.  Beverly was born on
June 10, 1960 to the late
Roger Dale Corbitt and
Barbara Ann (Shirley) Corbitt.

At the time of her death,
Beverly was the
longest standing member
of Word Aflame Church
and a faithful Sunday
School teacher, nursery
attendant and fellow
servant.
 
She earned a Bachelor of
Science Degree in
Accounting from UALR in
1995 and worked as
an Assistant Controller
at Arkansas Department
of Human Services from
2009 until her passing.
 
Beverly enjoyed camping,
reading, singing,
playing Sudoku
(word games), Spring Camp
Family Reunions, beach time,
crafting, caring for her
nieces and nephews, Texas
Casserole (the same
way her mom always made it),
 Mississippi Mud Cake and…
did I mention camping?๐Ÿ˜Š

Beverly is preceded in death
by her father,
Roger Dale Corbitt.
 
She is survived by her
faithful husband of
43 years, Tommy Eugene
Mercer; children,
Brandon Mercer (Mandy) of
North Little Rock
and Miranda Mercer of
Benton; mother,
Barbara Corbitt of Redfield;
siblings,
Brenda Plumlee (Roger) of
Maumelle,
Susan Hines (Don) of Little
Rock,
Carolyn Johnson (Glenn) of
North Little Rock,
Mark Corbitt (Ann) of
Redfield, David Corbitt
(Wendy) of Redfield, Nathan
Corbitt (Rachel)
of Fairview, TX as well as
twelve nephews,
six nieces, eight
great-nephews, six great-nieces
and a host of extended family
and friends who
will miss her dearly.
 
For the past thirty-plus years,
Beverly has read
her Bible from cover to cover
each year. One of
her favorite passages and how
best describes
how she lived her life is
found in
Philippians 4:8-9 (kjv):
“Finally, brethren,
whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are
noble, whatsoever things
are just, whatsoever things
are pure, whatsoever things
are lovely, whatsoever
things are of good report,
if there be any virtue
and if there be any praise,
think on these things.
Those things which ye have
learned, and received,
and heard, and saw in me,
do: and the God of peace
shall be with you.
 
Please join us celebrating
Beverly’s life,
Tuesday morning, August 1, 2023,
visitation 8a with service
following at 9 am.
Word Aflame Church -
7800 Interstate 30, Little Rock.
11am interment at
Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery,
North Little Rock.
