Billy Doyle Cloud, a devoted family man and hardworking individual, passed away August 9, 2024. Born on December 13, 1940 in Sardis, Arkansas, Billy led a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and dedicated to his country and community.
In his professional life, Billy carved a path of dedication and commitment. He worked tirelessly as a maintenance mechanic at Alcoa, where his skills and work ethic shone brightly. Even in retirement, he continued to share his talents, moving on to serve at Wal-Mart in the Sporting Goods department, building lasting relationships and creating a legacy of hard work and reliability.
Billy also proudly served in the United States Army, embodying the values of honor, duty, and sacrifice throughout his military career.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Billy was known for his diverse interests and passions. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace in camping trips to Lake Nimrod and had a particular fondness for fishing, although he preferred to admire the fish rather than eat them, being a very picky vegetarian. His love for sports, especially his unwavering support for the Razorbacks, showcased his enthusiastic spirit. Additionally, Billy's dedication to youth development was evident in his volunteer work as a baseball coach, leaving a lasting impact on aspiring athletes.
Music held a special place in Billy's heart, with a particular affinity for gospel tunes, especially southern gospel quartet music. Despite his tough exterior, Billy harbored a soft spot for animals of all kinds, cherishing their companionship and affection.
In a testament to his character, Billy leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Janet Cloud; son, Matthew Cloud, and fiancee Leanne; daughter, Crystal Cloud; son, Justin Thabit; grandchildren: Eli Cloud, Myra Cloud, Jessica Cloud, and Christian Porter; three great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Cloud, and wife Polly; and a multitude of family members and friends who will forever hold him dear in their hearts.
While we mourn Billy's passing, we also remember his sons, Paul Allen Cloud and Billy Earl Cloud, who preceded him in death. He is also reunited with his parents, Herbert H. Cloud and Beatrice A. Damran Cloud, and siblings: Louise Wilkerson, Cora Ellen Davis, Herbert G. Cloud, and Jackie Cloud, in eternal peace.
