Billy Lynn Gilstrap died on August 6, 2012. Born in Salem, Arkansas on May 17, 1929 to Bernie and Tressie Lafevers Gilstrap, he was a control tower operator in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He retired from Timex Corporation where he was employed 26 years. Bill was a Deacon Emeritus of Calvary Baptist Church and a member of the Adult 2 Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Poole Gilstrap, whom he married on January 20, 1951; daughter, Lynn Gilstrap Dacus (Jon) of Sherwood; son, Michael Keith Gilstrap and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Gilstrap of Little Rock; granddaughters, Katie Dacus Stalcup (Jeremy) of North Little Rock and Brenna Gilstrap of Conway; grandsons, Kris Dacus (Lisa) of Sherwood and Ashton Gilstrap of Little Rock; honorary grandson, Jackson Martin of Fort Smith; and sister, Mary Morrison (Paul) of Onsted, Michigan. His parents and a brother preceded him in death.
Services will be held on Friday, August 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, officiated by Bro. Ed Simpson. His ashes will be interred at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 5700 Cantrell Rd., Little Rock, AR 72207.
