Billy Conn Kersey, age 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Billy was born on March 23, 1942, in Kirby, Arkansas, to Carl and Lida Coffman Kersey. He was the youngest of eleven children and held a special place in the hearts of his family.

A man of strong Christian faith, Billy attended Texas Baptist Institute and Seminary in Henderson, Texas. Throughout his life, he served as a pastor and minister, faithfully sharing the Gospel and his love for the Lord with those around him.

Billy was a hardworking contractor who took great pride in his craft, and he would work on just about anything that needed fixing. He enjoyed watching basketball and football, farming, and spending time with his grandchildren. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Known for his strong will, generous heart, and compassion for others, Billy was always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need.

Billy’s greatest joy was his family, and his greatest purpose was serving the Lord. He spent countless hours studying his Bible and sharing his faith. His family will forever cherish his handwritten Bible notes, the lessons he taught them, and the love he so freely gave.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lida Kersey; his ten siblings, Monravia Henson, Carl Kersey Jr., Coy Freda “Tiny” Bell, J.D. Kersey, M.C. Kersey, Curtis Kersey, Kirby Kersey, Boyd Kersey, Quilla White, and Harold Kersey; his grandson, Matthew Kersey; and his great-grandson, Calek Kersey.

Billy is survived by his loving wife of nearly 66 years, Mary Nell Kersey; his children, Tim and wife, Sandra Kersey, and Chris Kersey; his grandchildren, Alisha Kersey, Reed Kersey and Trivett Nettles, Chase Kersey, Erika and Mac Carrel, Cade Kersey, Colton Kersey, and Joshua Copeland; his great-grandchildren, Axel Kersey, Addyson and Alec Moss, and Karly Wilt; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Billy leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, love, generosity, and devotion to his family. While he will be deeply missed, his loved ones find comfort in knowing he is reunited with those who have gone before him and is resting in the presence of his Lord and Savior.

Pallbearers will be Axel Kersey, Cade Kersey, Tom Phillips, Jeff Turner, Lynn Tolleson, Alec Moss, and Trivett Nettles.
