Billy L. Podbevsek

July 20, 1939 — August 19, 2021

Billy L. Podbevsek, age 82, of Glenwood, quietly departed this life on Thursday morning, August 19, 2021.

He was born on July 20, 1939, in West Frankfort, Illinois, the son of Frank Podbevsek and Ruth Aleen Silkwood Podbevsek. His family moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico when he was thirteen. After graduating from Carlsbad High School in 1958, he joined and served in the United States Army Reserves. On June 16, 1960, he married Patsy Wright Podbevsek and they were blessed with two daughters, Sherie and Lindee. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Lindee Lee Vaughn; his grandson, Nathaniel Lee Grant; and his brother-in-law, Nolan Henderson.

Billy was a member of Midway Missionary Baptist Church and worked many years and retired from Arkansas Power and Light. He was an amazing golfer and loved to whittle. Anyone who knew him, knew how proud he was of his creations.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Podbevsek of Glenwood; his daughter and son-in-law, Sherie and Bobby Grant of Glenwood; his son-in-law, Bruce Vaughn of Glenwood; three grandchildren and their spouses, Benjamin and Stephanie Grant of Holland, Michigan, Whitney and Kylor Spurlin and KaLonie and Luke Palmer, all of Glenwood; ten great-grandchildren, Ian Grant, Jaina Grant, Nora Grant, Leigha Grant, Amos David Grant, Bryson Spurlin, Ledger Spurlin, Ezekiel Palmer, Samuel Palmer and Hadassah Palmer; his sister, Ruth Anne Henderson of Carlsbad, New Mexico; one niece, Sharon Magnuson; and two nephews, Danny Henderson and James Henderson.

Private graveside services were held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 11, 2021, in the Mount Tabor Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Lock officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Mount Tabor Cemetery Association, 1501 Dollar Road, Glenwood, Arkansas 71943.
