Bob Denton, affectionately called “Papaw” by his grandchildren, passed away on Saturday, September 6 of natural causes in his home. He was attended to by his daughter Becky and a team of devoted care givers.
Bob, age 94, was born in Amity, Arkansas in 1930. He was the last survivor of his siblings: Geneva (aka Toots), Alice, S.A., John (aka Sonny), Mary Jane and Ann (aka Dood). His wife, Carolyn Denton, of Alpine, Arkansas predeceased him in 2017. They were married for nearly 70 years. Bob personally built his home and they have resided there since the 1980's. Bob was a pastor for many years and graduated with a degree in Bible Studies from Ouachita Baptist University.
Bob's first-born daughter, Brenda Brown of Hot Springs, predeceased him earlier this year. His grandchildren are Jenny (Matt) Mitchell, who have two daughters, Kailey and Emily of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Brenda’s second daughter, Cara (Matthew) Mayall resides in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
His second-born daughter, Becky Mote, lives in Hot Springs with her son, Joshua Farmer. Becky's other son, Nathan Farmer, lives in Georgia and her daughter, Alysia Schrader, lives in Little Rock, Arkansas with her husband Mike.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in the Jones Cemetery at Amity with Russell Massey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home- Glenwood. Guest Registry can be found at www.smithfamilycares.com
