Bobby Ray Dempsey, age 79 of Sherwood, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation in North Little Rock. He was born April 8th, 1934 in North Little Rock, AR. He was the son of Inez Kimbo and William Kimbo.

Bobby was medical records supervisor for the Veteran's Administration, first at Fort Roots VA Hospital, then at Little Rock VA Hospital. He retired after 31 years of service.

Bobby was in the United States Army and the Arkansas National Guard for a combined total of 42 years. He received the Army Commendation Medal in January, 1984 and the Arkansas Distinguished Service Medal in February, 1984. He received his official retirement from the United States Army on May 1st, 1994.

Bobby was a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post #4548 in Jacksonville and he was also a member of the Moose Lodge #942 in Sherwood.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Inez Dempsey Kimbo, his stepfather William Kimbo.

Survivors include his wife Norma, daughter Nita Dempsey Weeks and her husband Bobby Weeks, daughter Rebecca Dempsey Walton, stepson Darryl Tackett and his wife Lisa and their daughter Brenna, and stepson Doug Tackett. All were beloved by Bobby.



Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Huson Funeral Home in Sherwood.

Burial with full military honors will follow at Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at Huson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors at 223 Rosa L. Parks Avenue, Suite 301, Nashville, Tennessee 37203.
